Irn-Bru and Leith round off their partnership with eccentric ads
The soft drink brand has teamed up with its outgoing agency on two spots, involving a sobbing unicorn and the Loch Ness Monster
Irn-Bru has culminated its nearly 30-year partnership with Edinburgh-based creative agency Leith with a new campaign filled with mythical whimsy. The ads supposedly lift the lid on the unconventional processes that go into Irn-Bru Xtra’s new flavours.
These processes include milking the Loch Ness Monster and making a unicorn cry, in order to extract the vital ingredients: Nessie Nectar and Unicorn Tears. Introduced by two proud specialists of each trade, the ads parody the usual behind-the-scenes videos of artisans that many food and drink brands lean into these days.
The ads are true to form when it comes to Irn-Bru’s back catalogue of wacky spots created during its partnership with Leith. Moving forward, the brand will be working with London-headquartered agency Lucky Generals.
“Bringing these new flavours to life was a dream for us to work on,” the agency said in a social post. “We couldn’t have asked for a more Bru campaign to finish our time on a high. A true testament to the pride we have for the work we’ve created in the last 30 years.”
