Wikipedia capsule collection celebrates open access to information
In a collaboration with sustainable fashion brand Armedangels, the range references Wikipedia symbols and texts and focuses on the importance of free access to knowledge
The capsule collection, For Fact’s Sake: Think Responsibly, is the result of a partnership between Armedangels and the Wikimedia Foundation and features several heavyweight T-shirt designs, hoodies, caps and socks.
As per the Cologne-based brand’s long-held ecological and sustainable ethos, each garment is made from 100% recycled cotton, sourced through RCO100® technology from Säntis Textiles. The new clothing line with Wikipedia aims to “bring sustainable fashion and open access to free knowledge together with a shared mission”.

Declaring ‘sustainability meets free knowledge’, in acknowledgment of the blend between the Armedangels stance and Wikipedia’s own mission, the capsule’s web page says that “when we know better, we do better … each piece supports a world that’s both: smart [and] sustainable. So, wear your values, make smart choices, change the narrative.”
The collection incorporates familiar Wikipedia symbols and features T-shirts in cyber yellow or hyperlink blue which reference three concepts (peace, equality and freedom) and their definitions as found on their particular Wiki pages, under the banner of ‘Let’s set knowledge free’.
Another T-shirt features the famous NASA image of the Earth, known as the blue marble, from 1972.

“Information freedom is the foundation of informed decision-making – even in the fashion industry,” says Armedangels founder and CEO Martin Höfeler. “Those who have access to knowledge can recognise sustainable alternatives, question supply chains, and make conscious consumer choices.
“But this applies far beyond the textile sector: unrestricted access to information enables people worldwide to expose injustices, drive innovation, and actively shape their future. This partnership stands as a statement that transparency and education are essential in driving positive change.”

According to Armedangels, 12% of sale proceeds will be donated to the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit that operates the technical infrastructure behind Wikipedia. The Foundation also supports its volunteer communities while advocating for open access to free knowledge worldwide.
The Wikipedia capsule collection is available from armedangels.com as well as in-store at Kastner & Öhler in Graz, Austria and Ludwig Beck in Munich, Germany.
