Wallace and Gromit star in BBC Christmas idents

Aardman has worked on a trio of idents that have launched ahead of the latest Wallace & Gromit instalment, Vengeance Most Fowl

Beloved animated franchise Wallace & Gromit is officially returning to the BBC on Christmas Day with Vengeance Most Fowl, the first film in the series since 2008.

Directed by Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham, it sees the return of one of the all-time greatest antagonists, Feathers McGraw, who first appeared in 1993 short The Wrong Trousers. The film also introduces a new character fit for our tech-dependent times: a smart gnome called Norbot.

To mark the occasion, Wallace and Gromit have been made the face of BBC One’s Christmas idents, which are running throughout December. The idents have been directed by Jay Grace, who previously worked on Shaun the Sheep and Moominvalley, and show the pair in typical Christmas scenes with a Wallace & Gromit twist – from wacky mechanical inventions to recognisable side characters (including a Feathers McGraw ice sculpture).

Aardman has also been involved in other promotional activity ahead of the release of Vengeance Most Fowl, including a projection on Battersea Power Station in London as part of a collaboration with Apple for its Shot on iPhone series.
