Apple Airpods 4 ad

Pedro Pascal teams up with Spike Jonze for new Apple Airpods 4 ad

Running over five minutes long, the new film demonstrates how music and dance can help change your mood (and possibly even the season)

Like many of us, Pedro Pascal is feeling trapped in an interminable winter. But hope is on the horizon for the Last of Us actor in this new ad for Apple, directed by Spike Jonze, where he is shown escaping the bleakness of a breakup and a frozen landscape via the brand’s new Airpods 4.

The ad sees Pascal find his way back to sunshine, and a happier version of himself, by focusing on music, which allows him to tune out the freezing world outside, as well as an annoying guy asking for directions. Soon he is dancing through flower-strewn streets.

Titled Someday, the film is yet more evidence of Jonze’s skill for using dance to bring different scenarios and emotions to life. He built this reputation via his epic videos for Fat Boy Slim, before later creating equally legendary films for Kenzo in 2016, featuring Margaret Qualley, and Apple HomePod in 2018, starring FKA twigs.

This new ad features choreography from Tanisha Scott, who has previously worked with Rihanna, Drake, and Beyoncé. Its soundtrack opens with Guitarricadelafuente’s Conticinio before switching to a more upbeat mood in Sam i’s Perfect (featuring Tropkillaz, Bia, and MC Pikachu) halfway through.
