Chu-Chieh Lee’s ever-evolving animation practice

The director discusses how moving from Taiwan to London and exploring more traditional forms of animation have informed her approach

“I’ve always loved storytelling and conveying ideas through visual language, and animation and illustration offer the perfect tools to create entire worlds around those ideas,” says Chu-Chieh Lee.

Originally from Taiwan, the London-based animation director and illustrator has built up an expansive portfolio over the last few years, working with high-profile clients ranging from BBC Wildlife and Red Bull through to Wired.

Having studied multimedia and animation art at the National Taiwan University of Art, Lee started her career at a design studio, before changing gears to become an independent illustrator and animator.
