Sexual health charity Brook spotlights less-than-perfect sex
A trio of animations from the charity capture sexual misadventures in order to highlight the mental health impact of performance pressure
If you suffer from chronic prudishness, then look away now; the sexual health charity Brook is confronting ‘copulation catastrophes’ with a series of animated films which show that sex might not always work out as it does in the movies.
Ever felt the dread that arrives as soon as a helpless lover puts down the needle on an off-putting record with the knowledge you now must shag to it? Or ended up in the wrong tent in the haste of fitting in an impromptu festival fuck? Then, feel seen.
Brook’s head of communications, Sam Hepworth, explains the sexual health charity knows from talking to people in its clinics that there can be a lot of pressure for sex to be perfect. “The representations we often see in the media and pornography can lead to unrealistic expectations about what sex should be like. Trying to live up to these can cause a lot of anxiety and be a huge barrier to pleasurable, healthy relationships,” he says.
Working with TBWA\London, they enlisted animation studio Rave Growl to reimagine real-life stories of less-than-perfect sex (submitted by the public anonymously) as part of Brook’s Perfect is Personal campaign. The trio of tragedies use humour to help alleviate sexual anxiety by encouraging people to see the funny side when sex goes off-kilter.
