BFG lends a hand in Sainsbury’s Christmas ad
The supermarket has enlisted the supersize Roald Dahl character to help out with this year’s Christmas menu
Sainsbury’s is inviting the nation to ‘go big this Christmas’ with a message delivered by the BFG himself in its ‘phizz-whizzing’ festive campaign.
The ad follows the Roald Dahl character and a Sainsbury’s employee on a mission to create an exciting Christmas menu. Understandably, the menu items dreamed up by BFG at the beginning of the spot – prawn coattails, beef welly-boot and wigs in blankets – don’t make the final cut.
The campaign is described as “the Big Friendly Giant meets the Big Friendly Grocer – two fabric of the nation brands, bringing the magic of Christmas home to families,” according to Ian Heartfield, CCO and partner of New Commercial Arts, the agency behind the campaign.
The piece of work marks New Commercial Arts’ first collaboration with Ogilvy since the network acquired the agency in September.
